Installing UK Windows on Thai Netbook

I have been asked to help. Someone I know has returned to the UK from
Bangkok with a new Netbook computer with Thai Windows XP installed.
They tried to adjust it for UK use and failed, ending up using the
machine's Recovery Disk to reinstate everything.
It now boots with a Thai version of the Windows initial configuration
screen, but all in Thai script. Moving to Holland, they bought a UK
copy of Windows. (The disk appears genuine,but I'm no expert on
I have tried booting from the UK disk, It starts OK but when you get
to the point where you should destroy the current partition to create
a new one, the machine fails to find any C: drive, or any kind of
drive, at all.
I assume this is related to it having a solid state flash drive rather
than a conventional hard disk. How can I get it to recognise the
