RE: [NTO] Running as Administrator
- Sorry for the long delay on my response. I had a busy weekend. You are
correct on the control section of things.
Like in Windows 9x, you can use this:
C:\WINDOWS\CONTROL.EXE Sysdm.cpl, System,1 and it will take you right
to your device manager. There's one for 2000/XP but it is totally
different. Change the 1 value to 2 or 3, etc. and you'll get different
Everything is a shortcut of something, if you want to think of it that
I found this stuff by ways of my own and by reading other things on the
net. That particular one I got from Lockergnome; it was in one of their
newsletters. You can also use "control userpasswords" for a Windows
2000 machine and get the same results as the XP one.
Looking for some Lockergnome tips? This is a nice help file that
totally kicks butt.
You guys should also check out http://www.winguides.com and look for
their free downloads on the security guide and the registry guide. They
install a single help file so you can take it wherever you go. They
help with security and registry (obviously) but aid in showing you what
to do, how to do it, what to modify, etc.
Very good information for all of us!
Where did you find the info about "control userpasswords2"? Is
application name for Control Panel? If so, where can I find a list of
line flags/options that work with it?
Again, thanks for all the help.
