      Hey folks,

I just went to upgrade Calypso E-Mail and it says development is being
discontinued. I wonder if you can use it for free now?

      Since I'm registered I can't verify. It's worth checking out. I used
the previous version for months and it was very stable, and I've used
the program for almost 4 years now.

And it is a shame that development will not be continuing... though I see the source code is up for grabs...

PS Is there a reason this group is HTML when the other NTB groups are text only... or is it my settings? Anyone know ? Jody ?

I think the program is excellent and the main problem was that they did
not market Calypso enough. I was always surprised that other programs
which were no where near as professional had more presence...but their
marketing was the reason for sure.

On the other hand I was surprised they developed Calypso in the first
place because MCS actually specialised in Unix to Windows
communication/networking tools, and not Windows desktop applications.

          >though I see the source code is
          >up for grabs...

Maybe someone will take it up. On the other hand, what would there be
          to add feature-wise anyway ? :-)

Btw, I discovered quite late that Calypso has seamless PGP 6+
integration, but you might not notice until you install PGP 6 and a new
          menu and buttons appear.

Yes, Steve, its your settings... I just realized this last week, thanks to
help from others. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com and then to MY GROUPS,
select the NTO group and then go to your preferences and select plain or
HTML .. select to get individual emails or sent in a digest.

my NTB was coming in digest and I thought that was the way to go. Then when
I joined the bazillion others, i was getting individual emails and getting
flooded, thought this is for the birds, checked preferences and sure enough,
it was not JODY sending out a digest but my PREFERENCES dictated so... I
made them all digests. Hated it and all are no individual emails. Its
easier to reply if its individual and easier to read, not having to scroll
endlessly when there are a lot of posts at once.

            Just some FYI stuff :)

I have not looked at Nettamer. My two most favorite shareware
programs are Eudora and PocoMail (even over the freeware). I
have Calypso since a year or so before MailBag Assistant came out
and do not particularly care for it.

I think Pegasus is the best freeware I ever played with. If I
wasn't so hooked on Eudora for a few features it has, I would
even consider running it (but think I would go with PocoMail first.
Is Nettamer freeware and if so, do you have a URL handy?

I think you are looking for "filter definitions". Each filter can have
as many definitions as you like, afaik. I define one filter and place
all my definitions in there, by right-clicking on the email with "add
to filter" and filling in the info. It makes sense this way because
each account then has a set of definitions in its filter which apply to
it. You can also select that same filter for any other account.

Each Mailbox can have many accounts. Each account has one default
                                    "Filter" which runs at startup.

The Junkyard is a separate filter for spam, which you can run before or
after the other filter. Make sense?
                                    The filters are very configurable.

All the top email programs should be roughly the same in stability and
speed (?). Beyond sending and receiving mail, it's all about mail
management and how that is done. I tried Pegasus and Eudora last year,
but didn't like them more than Calypso. No doubt, both programs are
very good. I'll take a look at some others some time. I think it's all
                                        a matter of personal preferences.

All the more reason to keep recommending our various favourites to each
other so we can try them out.
