      I often find the new "Places Bar" in the file Open/Save dialogs useful, but then I've substituted more useful "places" for the ones supplied by Windows. The TweakUI power toy will let you specify your places or hide the Places Bar altogether, just click on the "Open" tab.

      Given that you're a fan of "clean" interfaces you'll probably like many of the other things that TweakUI will do - it will turn off a lot of the Windows fluff and flash.

      Win/XP has it's own TweakUI:

      No, for example Notetab has it too. I've realized that I'm probably stuck
      with it. No big deal, it's just that it bugs me. I don't even use a
      wallpaper - I like it clean and boring. Thanks for trying to help anyway. :)
