      I posted this a while back off my pre-turbo slug days

      $ hdparm -tT /dev/sda

      /dev/sda:
      Timing cached reads: 148 MB in 2.04 seconds = 72.55 MB/sec
      Timing buffered disk reads: 24 MB in 3.06 seconds = 7.84 MB/sec

      This is the result post-turboslug:

      # hdparm -tT /dev/sda

      /dev/sda:
      Timing cached reads: 184 MB in 2.03 seconds = 90.64 MB/sec
      Timing buffered disk reads: 26 MB in 3.16 seconds = 8.23 MB/sec

      Nice solid improvement there.

      Back then, I used the 'transfer a file and see what netstat live says'
      method:

      (preturbo) it copied at 4.8-5.0MB/sec

      (post turbo) Doing the same gave me closer to 6MB/sec, cpu (via top)
      shows 6-12% idle with Samba 3.0... a little better indeed!

      Cool mod.
