- yes, i had the same problem with a freecom.you should update the list on the yahoo groups page of compatible disksdb

I finally got the answer, the problem is caused my external HD, it's a
250G buffalo linkstation. I replaced the buffalo with another external
HD, then follow the same steps, and my nslu2 was working and able to
boot from HD.
