serialless debianslug installation

    Hi, I m trying to install little debian on my slug. What did I do so far: ===================== I installed a tftp-daemon and downloaded initrd-netcon.gz-swap

      Hi,

      I'm trying to install little debian on my slug.

      What did I do so far:
      =====================
      I installed a tftp-daemon and downloaded initrd-netcon.gz-swap
      (according to
      http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/DebianSlug/SerialLessInstallation)
      into my slug.

      After running 'exec 0x01d00000' the reset seem to work properly, but
      I'm not able to ssh in. Not even a ping to 192.168.1.80 is successful.

      Some more side-information:
      ===========================
      I sucessfully ran on the slug:
      RedBoot> ip_address -l 192.168.0.1 -h 192.168.0.100
      RedBoot> load -r -v -b 0x01d00000 zImage-swap
      RedBoot> load -r -v -b 0x01000000 initrd-netcon.gz-swap
      RedBoot> exec 0x01d00000

      Route-Table of my host-computer:
      Ziel Router Genmask Flags Metric Ref
      Use Iface
      192.168.1.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0
      0 eth0
      192.168.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0
      0 eth0
      ...

      and I connect the following Ip addresses to my slugs Mac:
      arp -a:
      ? (192.168.0.1) auf 00:14:BF:62:D0:1A [ether] PERM auf eth0
      ? (192.168.1.80) auf 00:14:BF:62:D0:1A [ether] PERM auf eth0
      ...


      Any idea what could be wrong? I try to do this procedure several times
      without success.

      It is not clear to me what I need to USB-Ethernet-Adapter for?


      Any other suggestions?

      Hi Johannes, You might be better off following the instructions at http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/DebianSlug/BuildDebianSlug. Unless you have a good reason

        you have a good reason otherwise, I think this is what you want.
