        Most US cell phone providers provide an email address that forwards  emails on to text messaging. The addresses for several of them are in the blog page. Not

            Hello!
            I actually tried the one for Tracfone and substituted the temp entry
            there for my cell number, and some errors surfaced. It seems Google
            Mail had an error with them, they kept complaining that my phone
            number was an unknown user for such functions.

            Haven t tried it, but it looks like perhaps you could create an IFTTT.com script as a workaround. Have gmail send the text to a specified location like a

              Haven't tried it, but it looks like perhaps you could create an IFTTT.com script as a workaround. Have gmail send the text to a specified location like a dropbox folder then have IFTTT monitor that location and forward the contents of the email on as an SMS to your phone.
