IS there anyware to see the nic settings?

I have mine plugged into a NEtgear G switch (no admin) and I'm not
certain it is coming up at 100. Infact it maybe 10/mb.

This is what the startup messages say:

Initializing IXP425 NPE Ethernet driver software v. 1.1
ixp425_eth: CPU clock speed (approx) = 0 MHz
[error] ixEthMiiPhyScan : unexpected Mii PHY ID 00008201
ixp425_eth: ixp0 is using the PHY at address 1
ixp425_eth: ixp1 is using the PHY at address 0
      ixp425_eth: ixEthMiiLinkStatus failed on PHY0.
      Can't determine
the auto negotiated parameters. Using default values.
      enable_irq(22) unbalanced from c39451bc

I'd think that the default would be wrong @ 10 but I can figure how to
      determine it?

I'd like to disable the auto_negotiation and set it to 100/Full.

I have my nslu hooked to a netgear 8 port G switch(un managed) and I'm
not certain that it is coming up at 100/full.

The light on the port are link and 10/100 or 1000 so the switc can't
tell me if it is 10 or 100, however the dmesg from the nslu shows this:

        Module init.
        ixp425_eth:
Initializing IXP425 NPE Ethernet driver software v. 1.1
ixp425_eth: CPU clock speed (approx) = 0 MHz

ixp425_eth: ixp0 is using the PHY at address 1

        ixp425_eth: ixEthMiiLinkStatus failed on PHY0.

        enable_irq(22) unbalanced from c39451bc

If I was to guess I'd say that the default values maybe 10 megs. I
could not find mii or ethertools on the nslu2 unslung, is there a way to
determine the speed status/speed and if possible set it to 100/full.

        THXs

... One way is to measure the throughput. Start netio -s on your pc and connect from your slug (or the other way arround): # netio -t pc NETIO - Network

One way is to measure the throughput.

Start "netio -s" on your pc and connect from your slug (or the
          other way arround):

          # netio -t pc

NETIO - Network Throughput Benchmark, Version 1.23
          (C) 1997-2003 Kai Uwe Rommel

          TCP connection established.
          Packet size 1k bytes: 11419 KByte/s Tx, 10968 KByte/s Rx.
          Packet size 2k bytes: 11451 KByte/s Tx, 11290 KByte/s Rx.
          Packet size 4k bytes: 11440 KByte/s Tx, 11322 KByte/s Rx.
          Packet size 8k bytes: 11461 KByte/s Tx, 11471 KByte/s Rx.
          Packet size 16k bytes: 11421 KByte/s Tx, 11399 KByte/s Rx.
          Packet size 32k bytes: 11420 KByte/s Tx, 11319 KByte/s Rx.
          Done.

This is almost 100 mbit full line speed!

Also check if you see collisions on your slug:

          # ifconfig ixp0
          ixp0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0F:66:7F:0E:EC
          inet addr:192.168.0.10 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
