          Thanks for the response Inge,

          Here are my results:
          # echo $PATH
          /sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
          # path=/opt/bin:/opt/sbin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbi
          # man
man: No such file or directory
          # ls -l /opt/bin/man
          -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 49840 Sep 2 13:0
          # echo $path
          /opt/bin:/opt/sbin:/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:
          #

My path wasn't as it should have been but changing it hasn't changed
          the symptoms.

Looks like we are both still puzzled.

          Thanks, John.
