Ellie s old collar... brown leather with little colored leather flowers, was growing old. I was afraid the it might just give one day if she pulled too hard.

Ellie's old collar... brown leather with little colored leather flowers, was growing old.  I was afraid the it might just give one day if she pulled too hard.  I had no idea that finding a new collar would be such a big deal.  I wanted an old-fashioned buckle collar.  I do not trust the black plastic buckles.  It seems that almost ALL collars now have the plastic buckles.  After much shopping & searching we found one today.  It is well made so I think it will last for yrs.  The last one lasted 3 yrs.  Being sentimental, I will put it away & keep it.

Monica, I found this collar at a local natural pet food store. The website that Jandy mentioned, upcountryinc.com, has some really nice things in a buckle.

I use the rolled leather, buckle. I like the heavy duty plastic links, tho. the reason I use the rolled leather, is twofold. doesn t damage the coat as much.

(show coat), and, if someone grabs the end, and pulls, and it unbuckles, they
can't tighten it unlimited, so to speak.  the rolled part keeps it from tightening
up anymore. it can't get over it the *fat* part. but, I have a lot more dogs, so
a lot more rowdy play (with occasional fights tossed in for good measure). lol
otherwise, I'd probably use the nylon with the heavy plastic clip buckle, and
watch it for weakness. you have to watch the flexi's, too. I've had some of them
fall apart on my. luckily, not at a critical time or place.
