Since I have reinstalled, I am unable to right click a file like an html
file, do to "Open with..." and then browse to notetab.exe and open the
file. It just ignores the operation.

      Has anyone else encountered this?

        Margaret;
I'm not clear on the problem. Are you getting the RC>"open with; but not able to select NTab from the list or Browse? Or is the Right Click context menu failing to open? If this is the case it is not a NTab, but a WINDOWS problem.

If you are using NoteTab v5 and installed it to a new folder (or
one without NotePro.ini/NoteTab.ini), you may have installed it
to a limited user account. To the best of my knowledge limited
users cannot make file associations (unless made OK to do by an
administrator). You need to log into Windows with administrator
            privileges to create file associations.

You can then do all of your file associations in NoteTab by going
to View | Options | Associations and Add all the file types you
want to open in NoteTab there. Similarly, you may Add html type
files to the HTML Files tab so when you click on Edit from the
right click menu in Windows Explorer (or My Computer) the file
will open in NoteTab. (It also adds the HTML syntax highlighting
            in Pro.)

            Happy Tab'n,

Thanks to Jody and everyone who sent suggestions. What I eventually discovered with that there was an error in the registry folder path in the default data.

discovered with that there was an error in the registry folder path in
                the default data.
                HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Applications/NotePro.exe/shell/open/command/
                the default data was "C:\Program Files\NoteTab Pro\NotePro.exe" "%1"
                and should have been
                "C:\Program Files\NoteTab Pro 5\NotePro.exe" "%1"

                Works fine now. --Margaret
