      Color Stranded Knitting with Susan Dirk

      Saturday, March 12, 2011; 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

      Knit a charmingly patterned hat in the round using bulky yarns, with expert instruction from well-known knitting teacher Susan Dirk. Color stranded knitting allows knitters to create an intricate design of many colors. Students will learn how to pick (Continental style) and throw (English style), learning how to knit while holding a color in each hand. There will be some homework to do before attending the class. Please contact the Education Department for a supply list and homework details. Students should be comfortable with casting on, knitting, purling, binding off and decreasing.

      $30 Members $35 non-members
      $5 fee payable to the instructor for original hat pattern.


      Color Stranded Mittens with Susan Dirk

      Saturdays, March 19 and 26, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

      Learn color stranded knitting while knitting a pair of mittens custom fitted to your hand. Knit with two colors in the round. If you have not taken the Bulky Hat class, you will still be able to learn to make the matching mittens using variation on the Endless Rose color motif.

      There will be some homework to do before attending the class. Please contact the Education Department for a supply list and for homework details. Students should be comfortable with casting on, knitting, purling, binding off and decreasing.

      $40 Members, $45 non-members.
