The Wienstien fire seems to be getting under hand as 19 dozers and
many hand crews finish cutting a double line around the perimeter of
the fire. The acreage as of Tuesday morning seems to be close to
8500. An FM Radio Transmitter inside a radio vault was destroyed and
some outbuildings as well. Unknown what the status of the Eagle Peak
lookout tower is but I did here in initial attack the tankers and
copters making a protective barrier on the tower. The attendant was
airlifted to safety about 20 minutes after the fire broke out and
      went out of control.

Speculation has it as an escaped CDF control burn (Vegetation
Management Plan). However, the burn was conducted the day before on
Thursday and was seemingly out and CDF was patrolling throughout the
night. The next morning on private property adjacent to the burn the
new burn started about 10:25 or so (and the rest of the story you
      already read about.)

Major investigation is being conducted with 2 prevention officers
arriving on scene moments afterwards to start their investigation. A
state team is now on scene.

Only a few light helicopters remain at the helibase located at Lowery
and Paskenta Rds with RBFD Engine 2 standing by for helibase safety.

Many crews are being sent back to sleep and eat before they head out
the next day to return home.

169.125 Crew Net is hopping all over the north valley.
