Recruitment help for Green Job Readiness Program
Job training is available free of charge through the Green Job Readiness Project, for men and women who like working with their hands and want to enter the growing fields of green construction, energy efficiency and solar energy. To be eligible, candidates must live in designated zip codes in South Philadelphia, Point Breeze and Southwest Philadelphia.

Interested candidates can call Diversified Community Services, to schedule attendance at an information session at 215.336.1111 x100 or x1116.  Individuals with GED/Diploma are preferred because many construction companies require it. This phase of the program is 9 weeks, however, total training, including hard-skills training at the end would last  another 8 - 13 weeks.  It is important job seekers understand it is a FULL TIME program - 5 days a week, essentially 9 - 4pm. Also, individuals will need to be able to pass a drug test and be able to provide a state-issued ID.  Driver's licenses are a plus and some experience in construction, building maintenance, etc would be of benefit.

Attached are flyers for distribution. The first is a flyer about the general training opportunities under the grant, the second is a flyer specifically for construction job training.  The last is a brochure for staff, which provides an overview of the project so that they may market it to the job seekers. Please feel free to distribute the first two freely.

The Philadelphia WIB along with the Federation of Neighborhoods and CareerLink are partners in the Green Job Readiness Project, funded by the US Department of Labor.
