Group Description

The cyberspace offers us a universe with neither boarders
nor limitations for exchange of data and information.
However, it seems that day after day, the horizons is
shrinking due to the actions enforced by local authorities
in each country, formulating a profound effect on the
rights of citizens of those countries.

As a result, the 'noCensorship list' is the coalition of
individuals who fight to protect and promote fundamental
human rights such as freedom of speech and the right of
privacy on the net for users everywhere by prohibiting
prior censorship of on-line communication.

We oppose any restrictions or censorship on:

* Obscenity, including "pornography", as we hold this to be
an abridgment of liberty of expression despite claims that
it instigates rape or assault.

* Electronic bulletin boards, electronic newspapers, and
other interactive electronic media.

* Reception and storage equipment, such as digital audio
tape recorders.

* Any laws restricting the content of on-line speech
distinguish between the liability of content providers and
the liability of data carriers.

* Any actions restricting on-line free expression by
indirect means such as excessively restrictive controls
over computer hardware or software, telecommunications, or
other essential components of the Internet.

* Any laws or regulations that will prohibit on-line users
to encrypt their communications and information without

* Ensuring that personal information generated on the
Global Information Infrastructure (GII) for one purpose is
not used for an unrelated purpose or disclosed without the
person's informed consent and enabling individuals to
review personal information on the Internet and to correct
inaccurate information.

We invite all concerned individuals from all around the
world who are interested in taking concerted action to
protect the Internet from unjustifiable censorship
activities to join for a free universe of Internet for all.
