Group Description

This newsgroup is for individuals interested in mounting a grassroots campaign in NJ that addresses workplace bullying by educating the public & by promoting the passage of legislation to deal with this unacceptable behavior.

Workplace Bullying is repeated, health-harming mistreatment of a person (the target) that takes one or more of the following forms: verbal or physical abuse, threatening, humiliating or offensive behavior/actions, or work interference/sabotage. It is (a) is driven by perpetrators' need to control the targeted individual(s), (b) is initiated by bullies who choose targets, timing, place and methods, (c) escalates to involve others who side with the bully, either voluntarily through coercion, and it (d) undermines legitimate business interests when bullies' personal agendas take precedence over work itself.

NJ "HEALTHY WORKPLACE ACT" BILL HISTORY:

2012-2013 Legislative Session: New number - S333 - assigned to the Senate Labor Committee; A3249 - assigned to Assembly Labor Committee

2010-2011 Legislative Session: New number - A673 - with the same sponsors and cosponsors. Primary Sponsor Asw. Oliver is now Speaker of the Assembly. 11/2010 Asw. Greenstein elected to NJ Senate, effective Jan. 2011.

2008-2009 Legislative Session: A1551 was introduced by Asw. Linda Greenstein & was assigned to the Assembly Labor Committee. Asw. Sheila Oliver & Asw. Valerie Vanieri-Huttle joined as Primary Sponsors. The bill's hearing was canceled.

2006-2007 Legislative Session: A3590 was introduced by Asw. Linda Greenstein. It did not get heard.
