Group Description

Nineteenth Century

The Nineteenth Century was a long time ago. The railways spread from Britain to other countries. Piers appeared. Bathing in the sea became popular. Spas became fashionable. Many people became discontented with tilling the soil and moved to the burgeoning cities where Satannas had put up some dark mills.

In the beginning Napoleon met his Waterloo as did everyone else at the famous battle. The future of Europe was decided over cakes in Vienna. The working class campaigned for enfranchisement which, I think, is the right to vote.

Photography was all the rage. The Spanish lost their empire. The Americans had a polite war although it is still against the law to whistle Dixie.

The best guide to this particular century would be Royal Flash when Oliver Reed was in his prime.
