MALE SEX PROBLEMS RISING, EXPERTS WARN

Chinese men are being urged by experts to pay attention to their health to
counter growing rates of impotence in China.
Latest statistics show that various male sexual problems, such as sterility,
erectile dysfunction (ED) and prostate hyperplasia, have been increasing at
a rate of 15 per cent in recent years.
Impotence and andrology diseases are increasing among men due to the growing
stress of work and the family, and the fact that men are often reluctant to
visit the doctor.

While men should exercise more and increase their awareness of disease
prevention, society as a whole should pay more attention to the issue, said

The State Family Planning Commission has planned to fix October 28 as "Men's
Health Day" with the theme of "ED Affects Quality of Family Life," and is
applying for the backing of the State Council.
The day would encourage the country's family planning workers to provide
more care and attention to men's reproductive health. About 5 per cent of
the country's andrology illnesses are ED cases, Cao said.
Moreover, various sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) which can destroy
men's reproductive systems are increasing.
Official statistics place the number of STD sufferers in China at more than
830,000, but experts estimate the real figure to be more than 8 million.
