      DIARY OF EVENTS

      NEXT MEETING

      The next meeting of the Newham Cycling Campaign is on Good Friday 21st April
      2000 after the Family ride (see below). We will find somewhere quiet to hold
      the meeting when we return from the ride. If it is deemed necessary, there
      may be a further meeting on Wednesday 3rd May at 8:00pm in the New Dog Bar
      at the Old Spotted Dog Public House, Upton Lane, Forest Gate.

      COUNCIL LIAISON

      The Council Liaison group is now operating mainly by e-mail, if you are

      FAMILY RIDE

      Good Friday (21st April), meet 1:30pm Plaistow Greengate for ride to
      Victoria Park, Hackney, approx 10 miles round trip. Since most of this ride
      will be on the Greenway, child seats, trailers etc. may pose a problem. For
      more information contact Greg Smith on 0208 470 4631.


      DOCKLANDS EXPLORATION RIDE

      May Day (Monday 1st May), meet 11:00am Plaistow Greengate for ride around
      Docklands approx 15 miles. For more information contact Greg Smith on 0208
      470 4631.

      MILLENNIUM FESTIVAL OF CYCLING (A.K.A. BIKE WEEK) 17th - 25th June.

      A feeder ride is planned, to the London Cycling Carnival in Mile End Park on
      Saturday 17th June. Contact Siobhan for more information.

      A 'progressive meal ride' is planned, cycling between eateries in Newham,
      probably on Wednesday 21st June.

      Also proposed is a 'Commuter Race', between bikes, cars, and public
      transport, from West Ham Town Hall to East Ham Town Hall, on Friday 23rd
      June in the morning rush hour.


      CRITICAL MASS

      Last Friday of every month, 6-6:30pm from south side Waterloo Bridge,
      cyclists congregate and then ride en mass through the West End. For
      information contact Siobhan.


      STICKING & STUFFING

      Come along to the LCC head office near London Bridge and help out. On Monday
      22nd May: putting address labels on envelopes for the London Cyclist
      magazine mailing. On Thursday 25th May: putting the magazines in envelopes.
      From 6pm onwards, includes free veggie food. On either Tuesday or Wednesday,
      I usually go in to put this newsletter in with the magazine. If you would
      like to help, contact Siobhan.


      OTHER LOCAL GROUPS EVENTS

      'Dordogne Cycling trip' 27th May - 2nd June. A few places still available.

      Ride to Ingatestone Manor House - Sunday 14th May, meet 10:00am East Ham
      Station, take District line to Upminster and cycle from there. Contact Tony
      0208 558 3801.

      The Woodford Meet - Part of Millennium Festival of Cycling. Saturday 24th
      June, this is a re-enactment of a popular, early 20th century cycle ride and
      fancy dress parade to raise money for local charities. Newham members could
      go as a team in themed fancy dress, helpers may also be required. Contacts:

      N.B. If you intend to go on a ride, please contact the organiser first. Some
      rides may be cancelled due to lack of interest.
