Don't know much about black pot stills; seems to be a Virginia thing, but the ones I have seen/heard about were sometimes made of galvanized. That is, iron galvanized with Zinc. Mostly here in WNC they used pots with a "thumper".

ok quickly, the Y..my father was a moonshiner in Virginia way back when,he actually paid the doc who delivered me by making a run and selling it,so as a sorta small tribute I want to make a small scale black pot still..I know they used either copper sheets, stainless and some used just plain steel..I'd like to do copper as that's what I saw when I was a kid,I'm just not sure how they put them together with the wooden sides,if someone can help or put me in the right direction would be a lot of help,thanks.....
