materials of construction for a still (spirits ) are normally  made of stainless steel, copper or sometimes but rarely  aluminum due to its corrosion resistance,  heat transfer capability, and food safe.  metal drums  due to pitting and non-corrosion resistance and perhaps toxicity issues are  therefore  not  advisable  unless  you  distill for fuel ethanol  or  you  are  using stainless steel drum.

Would a metal drum be safe to use? Looking for something to replace a small stainless pot still I have.
