Need Help Please - Finding Wine Making Supplier in Western Australia
Im trying to help Bossy out here who lives in the Seychelles Islands located about 1000 miles east of Africa in the Indian Ocean. It looks like Australia is the nearest place for wine making supplies. His friend was going to get some in Singapore, but the prices there are rediculous... They have an iBrew outlet that is charging 6.50 Singapore Dollars - over 11 US dollars for 1 lousy 5 gram pack of EC-1118.
I checked the iBrew site in Australia which seems better - only $2.60 for a 7 gram packet - but still a bit steep. So far the best price Ive found is in Perth at:Perth (Osborne Park), WA: West Brew Distributors They want $12.50 for a 100 gram bag of EC-1118 which is more inline with US pricing - .85 cents for a 5 gram packet.
He is going to need the basics for fermenting all the tropical fruits there such as cashew apples, mangos, star fruit, palm sap etc. I figure he needs for starters:
1 kg. potassium metabisufite ($17.95 at Western)
1 kg. citric acid ($12.95 at Western)
1 kg. Yeast nutrients / DAP (Western has DAP for $19.95/kg but their nutrients are kind of overpriced - $4.95/for 50 grams)
100 grams Lalvin Ec-1118 yeast ($12.95/100 grams at Western)
1 kg. American Oak chips ($23.95 at Western)
He will probably need a wine hydrometer and proof hydrometer also. These should start him off for now.
If any of you know a good/better site around Western Australia for getting this, please let us know. Also if anyone has an idea of the milage from Seychelles to Australia and estimated shipping costs per pound - that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much all for any help you can give.
Vino es Veritas,
Jim aka Waldo.
