Tyler, I've had a quick look. If you guys keep talking about
selling and the prices charged, TTB is gonna have a field day with
        you. Geez!

Besides, every time someone starts thinking about illicit
commercialism, it puts our hobby legalisation efforts back to zero.
        Think about it.

        Slainte!

                    """""You're missing the point entirely."""""

The reason the TTB don't come after us is because we maintain an up-
front honest image of being hobbyists pursuing personal
satisfaction, and passing on quality knowledge of the hobby. As
such, we can not possibly do any harm to anyone but ourselves, and
only then if we disregard standard safety measures.

But when you start talking about 'selling', that's a whole new
ballgame, and one that this group will have nothing to do with.
Immediately it flies in the face of everything we stand for. It
gives the legislators ammunition to 'prove' that the laws banning
                    distilling are necessary.

When you provide a consumable product for open market, it has to
pass quality checks to ensure you aren't going to harm anyone.
Also, the cost of doing business is to pay taxes. Illegally selling
                    circumvents both these things.

The consequences of doing harm to another individual are
frightening. The consequences of deliberately engaging in tax
avoidance may be even worse, as Al Capone found out.

Idiots need to be protected from themselves, that's why the anti-
distilling laws came about in the first place, and that's why we
hobbyists are having such a hard time making any impression to have
them changed. We can (and do) spend years gaining a bit of ground
with lawmakers. Then along comes some asshole bragging
about 'selling' and all the good work is undone.

Am I angry? YES! I've spent 20 years of my life trying to change
the laws favourably for hobbyist distillers, so they can have the
same status as home brewers & winemakers. What I do here, plus the
Tastylime website, is all aimed at one purpose; legal reform. And
I'm not alone. Many reputable people have done similar AND MORE.
Tony Ackland and Young Des with Homedistiller.org; Mike Nixon & Mike
McCaw with The Compleat Distiller; The late Dr John Stone; Ian
                    Smilie; Rick from Brewhaus; Bill Owens from American Distiller;
Matthew Rowley the author and many, many others too numerous to
mention; all fighting the good fight for legalisation.

Then along comes a handful of you 20-somethings and start 'selling',
and worse, you brag about it on an open website. All the good work
is undone. Countless thousands of volunteer hours gone down the
toilet. Did I mention than I AM ANGRY????

Many of us whom I mentioned previously will not live to see legal
reform in home distilling. But you 20-somethings who will
ultimately reap the benefits of our groundwork, may reflect in years
to come how your senseless thoughtless brazen acts almost brought it
all crashing down. I say 'almost', because in spite of what you
stupidly do, we WILL ultimately prevail.

                    Slainte Mhath!

Many of us whom I mentioned previously will not live to see legal

blind man could find you in a heartbeat. In a town of 13,000 people
(name deleted), how hard could it be to find a young law

Kawasaki? There's only 3 phonebook entries with your last name
(name deleted). Wanna bet I could call your parents at the first
try? BTW, if you'd have come seen me when you went to Cairns 3

                          distilling properly. :-)

You live in a fool's paradise, Tyler (or should I say "Tango").

You've put enough personal information online that a one-legged
blind man could find you in a heartbeat. In a town of 13,000 people
(name deleted), how hard could it be to find a young law
student/bartender (college & workplace deleted) riding a blue
Kawasaki? There's only 3 phonebook entries with your last name
(name deleted). Wanna bet I could call your parents at the first
try? BTW, if you'd have come seen me when you went to Cairns 3
years ago, I could have shown you first-hand how to do this
                              distilling properly. :-)

You might wanna be real careful. Lawbreakers don't get lawyer's
licenses. I like your motto. ""Stupid is as stupid does" seems
                              rather appropriate.

Personally, I never see the US government legalizing home

won't, but i can't stop you. As is it is, you still only have me
tracked down to the city i live in, and you know who my girlfriend is.
However, you have brought to my attention that i need to be a little
more quiet about what i do and where i do it. Hopefully you won't be

grey area of the law, but with one foot in jail ,thanks to a ruling by
a judge not half a decade ago based on a bull$4!t interpretation of
                                      the law. Sound familiar?

Kicking you out won't achieve anything. Helping you and your
friends see the bigger picture is far more beneficial to all
                                        concerned.

But enough of this. Tyler, I hope you continue to enjoy the hobby
as a hobby, but please use a little discretion in what you do & say,
at least online. Whatever goes on the 'net, stays on the 'net
forever. Life's too short to start off on the wrong foot.

                                        Slainte!
