hey tony and steve
- thanks for the info tony i will stick with the pot still for the time
i am going to try to import a spirts unlimited reflux head
and mount it to my existing pot if customs will let it through
and at present i am using the spirtsunlimited turbo yeast
but was just playing around with bakers yeast to see what happened
i am going to do a cook tomorrow as i have a half day off yay!!
i have some supplies on carbon i am also going to flavour and put on
oak for future medical purposes haha
steve my whiskey is a cross between bourbon and scotch but more like
scotch if that makes sence
but it come out of the still clear like shine an i flvour it
if i drink it strait fron the still its pretty harsh (dont usally
only when experimenting) you should check out the other new zeland
web sites as they have plenty of info and ideas but you probley
steve i read all the past letters you have posted and your "uncle
bill" soundes like a real hillbilly
i think the still you are going to build may be to big 20 gallon is
what will you brew the wash in ???? and the corn and ingredints
would cost a lot if u have a failed brew??
you should mabey experiment with a 5 gallon pot some more
as i make 6 liters or 1.5 gallons of shine from from
but that is useing the sugar and water and yeasts like tony i have
not tried it with corn and stuff it sounds hard and complicated
i have read a bit about it and understand it
but what percetage of alcohol would a corn/barley wash mix be???
mabey u could do a small corn mix and blend it with a sugar yeast
brew it would give it some original flavour with at lot less
impurities you can then flavour it some more in oak or whatever
if u wanted real shine u could just drink it with no flavour in it
but i reckon it would be real harsh on the palate
what do u both think of this ???
hey steve can you could try a local brew shop and tryusing wine yeast
to get a higher alcohol content ???
do u know the content of your wash %% ???
