Does anyone happen to have any code (e.g., Matlab or the like) or other tips
for calculating the sum of squares for a reasonably large grid using the
      agglomeration approach?

Aggregating the grid in blocks of 4 is trivial, but creating the non-square
matrices (e.g., the sum of two stacked blocks) is tripping me up.

As always, any suggestions would be very helpful.

      Thanks,
      Darla Munroe
