        Hi,

If i remember correctly, gstat is installed under R (a statistical
software which is free from the internet - and yes there is a version
which is under Windows). If you get R, you will discover how to
        install gstat package.

Simply open R, go to Packages tab, and choose "Install packages
from CRAN" (which is the simplest way and you will get a list with
loads of packages including gstat, but you need "life" connection to
internet) or "Install packages from local zip files". It is up to you.

On CRAN you will find also the pdf. documentation which is
absolutely necessary to read in order to be able to use gstat.

R is very powerful but it has a very steep learning curve. I hope this
        helps.

        Monica

          Dear Snehamoy,

the information you provide is very brief -- you don't specify which
          file you
downloaded from which site. To complete the information in Monica her
          email:

          - gstat comes in two flavours: either as a stand-alone program, or as a
package for R (or S-Plus); both provide roughly the same functionality.
I had to start from scratch, I'd prefer the R package, because R provides
so much more when you want to analyse, model and visualise data.
          Visit http://www.r-project.org/ , download R, and from within R
you can download the gstat package from CRAN.

          - if you want to run the stand-alone program in a windows environment,
find out how to open a command window; then, find out about the "cd"
command to change directories (try: help cd); unzip the gstat zip file, the
gnuplot zip file and the data in the directory where you want to work,
and go ahead. Oh, and read the gstat manual.

          Best regards,
