      Thanks to the players who mentioned a couple of errors in the email sent yesterday about the tournament upcoming this weekend in Long Beach:

      1. All entries fees will be $60/team, not $100 for open teams as was wrongly written
      2. The tournament is in Long Beach, NY and not S Carolina.

       

      Hope to see all doubles players on the beach this weekend.

      Upcoming This Weekend!

      The Rider Sandals Kickoff, presented in Hilton Head by Spalding and Sprout Watches, will start the 2014 tournament season in Long Beach on May 24-25. Teams from throughout Long Island  will compete as they warm up for the 2014 summer season. Top male and female doubles teams will compete for cash prizes while lower divisions will compete for merchandise prizes from our sponsors: Sprout Watches, Spalding Volleyballs, Reflekt Polarized Sunglasses, Sports Authority and ZEMgear. Tournament play will start at 9 am with check in starting at 8 am. 

       

      Prizes:

      MO & WO: $50 of every entry fee will be awarded: 1st 60%, 2nd 45%. 3rdwil receive Spalding VB’s

      MAA & WAA: $250

      Other Divisions: Merchandise prizes from sponsors on the left

      Prizes awarded to top 4 teams in each division (3 teams in divisions with less than 8 teams)

       

       

      Volley America membership is a MUST (link is to your left). If you haven't played since last summer, you need to renew BEFORE you register. Have your # ready!

      Times: Saturday- Open divisions check in at 8 am, other divisions check in at 8:30 am; Sunday- check in 9 to 9:30 am

      Sat: MO, WO, MAA, MA, MB, WAA, WA, WB

      Sun: CAA, CA, & CB

      Sunday Junior doubles (for boys and girls 18 & under, 16 & under, 14 & under, 12 & under)

      Notes: Divisions with less than 8 teams may be merged with other divisions at tournament director’s discretion

      Merged divisions will still have playoff for Championship Pool pts. MO, MAA, MA, MB, WO, WAA, WA receive Volley America Grand Prix Pts.

      Prize Money: is listed on schedule page

      Format: Double elimination Cross Over: Men’s Open & Women’s Open; All other divisions: Pool play, followed by single elimination playoffs. 

      Fees: $10 late fee for any team that pays on the beach

      MO & WO: $60 All other divisions

       

      Directions: From Long Island: Southern State Pkwy to Meadowbrook Pkwy south to Loop Pkwy. Right at end onto Lido Blvd (changes to Park Ave) Left at Riverside Blvd to ocean, free parking.

      From Verrazano Bridge: Take Belt Parkway (Shore Pkwy) east towards Eastern LI and JFK airport. Near airport get off at Nassau Expressway (Rte 878) exit. Take Nassau Expressway, which becomes Rockaway Blvd (Follow signs for Long Beach or Atlantic Beach Bridge) to Rte 878. Go over Atlantic Beach Bridge and make left onto Park St/Beech St. Go through commercial section and make right on New York Ave. Make left on Broadway. Go 2 miles to Riverside Blvd. Make right to tournament site at boardwalk.

      By Train: LIRR to Long Beach. Leaving the station go across Park Ave. left, make right on Riverside Blvd. and walk south towards Ocean. Enter beach at Riverside Blvd. under the boardwalk.
