    Los Angeles Arts Group (L.A. Arts Group), an arts provider in Los Angeles County, is currently accepting applications from teaching artists in Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual/Digital Arts for the 2017-2018 school year.


    L.A. Arts Group is committed to excellence in arts education and believes the arts are powerful tools for expression and communication and vital to the development of every child. Our goal is to provide high quality, standards-based arts education for grades K-12 in a creative environment that promotes collaboration and respect. Our programs aim to engage students, teachers and the community to provide learning in and through the arts.

    The Artist Residency Program consists of 6-12 weeks during the school day, in schools throughout L.A. County. Successful candidates will be organized and communicative; flexible and able to adapt lesson plans based on feedback; passionate and inspiring with respect to his/her art form; and love teaching K-12 students!



    ·        BA, MA, and/or MFA degree in arts, education, or relevant field of study

    ·        Must have knowledge of the Visual and Performing Arts Content Standards for California

    ·        Minimum of 2 years teaching standards-based arts education in schools PREFERRED, including the ability to integrate other subject areas

    ·        Experience with arts integrated lessons, including STEAM integration, is highly desired

    ·        Experience with facilitation of Professional Development workshop curriculum for classroom teachers, administrators, and community members is highly desired

    ·        Knowledge of current educational pedagogy and best practices

    ·        Must demonstrate depth of knowledge and skills in the art form, and be able to teach it to K-12 students

    ·        Excellent written and oral communication skills and must be able to work collaboratively in a school environment with all school community members

    ·        Must have a reliable car, mobile phone, and access to email

    ·        Maintain a positive and patient attitude; be proactive, flexible, and show initiative with projects, planning, and all activities related to this position

    ·        Teaching Artists will be required to complete a Live Scan and show proof of TB clearance within the last 4 years, if accepted



    ·        Develop a sequential, VAPA standards-based curriculum outline for 6-12 workshops and lesson plans for each workshop, in specified art form, designed to serve K-12 students

    ·         Attend planning meeting at each assigned school site to meet with participating teachers

    ·        Work with L.A. Arts Group and teachers with scheduling and logistics

    ·        Teach an arts-based residency at assigned school(s), with attention to the learning needs of diverse student populations

    ·        Identify and plan cross-curricular connections with other subject areas, based on teacher goals

    ·        May need to move tables and chairs in the space provided at the school site

    ·        Represent Los Angeles Arts Group at school site for meetings, workshops, and culmination

    ·        Pay rate – $50-75 per teaching/planning hour, depending on experience
