Eagle Rock and Walgreens
- Eagle Rock needs your help!
Do you know the old Paint and Body Shop building in the SW corner of Colorado Blvd and Eagle Rock?
Just West of the gas station on Colorado, across the street from the old Library and now Eagle Rock cultural center.
This is also called the Shopping Bag Building and it was Eagle Rock's first SuperMarket.
The Paint and Body Shop is closed now and Walgreens wants to move in.
Some Eagle Rock residents question the need for another drugstore in the neighborhood, some don't mind but what they are all up in arms about is that Walgreens wants to demolish the historic building, put a big parking lot facing Colorado
and construct a new building in the middle.
This clearly againt the NorthEast Community plan to PRESERVE UNIQUE HISTORIC AND CULTURAL IDENTITIES OF EACH COMMERCIAL AREA.
The existing building has the right size and enough parking to accomodate a Walgreens.
This is what it would look like if it was refurbished.
Instead Walgreens wants to build a Santa Clarita type asphalt desert.
Here is their plan
