      New Kingdom Royal Cities:
The Palaces of Deir el-Ballas, Malqata and El-Amarna
The palace complex was one of the most important elements of urbanized Egyptian society in the New Kingdom. As the residence of the king, the palace was an integral part of the Egyptian community and was often the basis for that community's existence. The royal cities of Deir el-Ballas, Malqata, and El-Amarna each contained palace structures that held central positions. A comparison of these palaces can provide evidence for the standardization of elements and can reveal information about the function of each site.
About The Speaker: Amber Hutchinson is a doctoral student in Egyptology at the University of Toronto. She is currently Membership Secretary of The SSEA.
