The Notorious Canary Trainers will be meeting on Sunday, May 21 at the Fitchburg Public Library. The meeting will begin at 3:00 pm and end by 4:30 pm.

Our meeting falls between the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, two of the largest horse races in the United States. That makes it special to have "The Adventure of Silver Blaze" as our story this month. Not to give too much away, but this month's story deals with horse racing. "The Adventure of Silver Blaze" was originally published in 1892 and later published as one of the stories in "The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes". The story has been one of the more popular stories of the canon. The story has been made into 3 movies, several radio programs, and most recently parts of the story were used in two episodes of the  Elementary television series.

I hope you can make it this Sunday and encourage everyone to bring guests. But, please leave your riding crops at home.

This Sunday, December 17, we will be discussing The Adventure of The Naval Treaty. According to Baring-Gould the adventure takes place from Tuesday, July 30 to August 1, 1889. It is interesting to note that it is the longest of the Sherlock Holmes adventures at 12,701 words. Due to the length of the adventure, it was published in the Strand in two sections, July and August of 1893. It is one of three adventures that deals with important government papers that are missing.

The meeting will be at the Fitchburg Public Library from 3 to 4:30 pm. As usual everyone is encouraged to attend and bring visitors.

A reminder to everyone that our annual birthday celebration will be held on January 7th. Hope to see you there.
