The Notorious Canary Trainers will be meeting on Sunday, February 19th in the Board Room at the Fitchburg Public Library. The meeting will begin at 3:00 pm and end promptly at 4:30 pm.

This month we will be discussing the first 6 chapters of The Sign of Four. It was originally published in February 1890, so we can celebrate the 127th anniversary.

In doing a little research of course I found thousands of hits on the internet. I was surprised though to find hundreds of theses have been written about The Sign of Four. I love Sherlock stories, but not enough to make it the emphasis of my college studies.

Anyway, hope to see you on Sunday.

After a one week delay the Notorious Canary Trainers will be meeting this Sunday at the Fitchburg Public Library to discuss The Adventure of the Cardboard Box. As usual our meeting will begin at 3:00 pm and will finish by 4:30 pm.

As a little bit of an introduction, The Adventure of the Cardboard Box takes place in 1888 and was first published by Strand Magazine in 1892. The story was later published in book form as part of a collection. The story was not published in the first British edition of The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, but it was published in the first American edition, though it was quickly removed in later printings because of its controversial subject matter. Many consider it to be the most controversial story of the entire Sherlock Holmes canon.

If that doesn't whet your appetite to come and be part of our discussion, I don't know what would.

Hope to see you there and invite guests who might be interested.
