Local American Indian artist Lyn Risling is bringing her first solo art exhibition to United Indian Health Services’ Potawot Health Village. The exhibit officially opens on Saturday and will be on display throughout the end of September.

The public is invited to the opening artist’s reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Potawot Health Village, located on Weeot Way off Janes Road next to Mad River Community Hospital.

Risling is a member of the Karuk, Yurok and Hupa tribes. The exhibit, titled “Renewing Our Way,” was originally shown at the C.N. Gorman Museum at the University of California, Davis. It is a collection of 29 paintings that span the years from 1980 to 2005, and is a retrospective that recognizes Risling’s presence as a major California Indian artist.
