Position Available at La Peña Cultural Center, a non-profit cultural

Programmer (40 hours per week): Principal responsibilities are to curate and schedule artistic and community programs in accordance with La Peña's mission and programming priorities as set forth by the staff and board of directors. This includes but is not limited to:
Pro-actively booking and responding to artists who wish to perform and pro-actively contacting and responding to community groups to present programs at La Peña. This work will be done within the context of fulfilling La Peña's mission and programming priorities.
Coordinating next generation arts programming in accordance with our
mission and in conjunction with the priorities established in La Peñas strategic plan.
Coordinating next generation artists special programming including
but not limited to the Hecho en Califas Festival of New Chicano - Latino arts; and participate in collaborative efforts such as the production of the Bay Area Hip Hop Theater Festival.
Securing artist and community group rental contracts, and promotional materials in a timely fashion; and interface with La Peña production staff on publicity, technical, financial, house management and staffing needs.
Working some evening and weekend programs as needed for both on-site
and off-site productions (approximately 4 times/month) and be available for other staffing needs such as New Years Eve.
Programmer works closely with La Peña's programming committee to discuss booking and programming ideas and to coordinate programming schedule among various programmers and production staff. The programmer reports to E.D. on in-house programming, to the Financial Manager on budgetary issues, and to the Development Director on some special initiatives.
Programmer must maintain regular office hours (generally M-F) and work
within budget and timeline defined for specific programs and projects.
Pay scale: $30,000 a year FTE. This is a 40 hour/week position.
Programmer will be eligible for health and vacation benefits after
passing a 6 month probationary period. Programmer will be eligible for
membership in the La Peña's staff Collective.
