Planned housing construction by the Tule River Indian Tribe on newly
acquired land next to the current reservation might await federal action to
declare the property official reservation land. Houses and mobile homes on
the reservation currently number around 300 to house a total enrolled tribal
membership of more than 1,500, the Tribal Council announced this year. Sale
to the tribe of the former Lowe Ranch, 855 acres near Reservation Road, is
      now final.

"The tribe had to resolve a number of title issues in the sale," said tribal
      attorney Sam Cohen.
