Buffalo vs Ohio State – The #2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes kick off their season with a home matchup against the University of Buffalo Bulls. The Buckeyes, led by Urban Meyer, are looking to contend in the Big 10 Conference. Buffalo, a member of the Mid-America Conference, is not expected to win this game.

The current Vegas lines have Ohio State as a 34.5 point favorite, so if Buffalo wins it truly would be a shocking upset. The Buckeyes ran the table last year to take a 12-0 regular season record but because of NCAA sanctions, Ohio State was ineligible to participate in both the Big Ten Championship Game and a BCS bowl game. Urban Meyer undoubtedly is hungry to take this team to another 12-0 season and a top BCS bowl game.

Buffalo, on the other hand, had a rough year in the Mid-America Conference. The Bulls limped to a 4-8 regular season finish. Buffalo head coach Jeff Quinn has a not-so-great record of 9-27 as the Bulls’ head coach, but a shocking upset here would be a nice feather in his cap. The Buckeyes are the highest-ranked team the Buffalo Bulls have ever faced, so clearly Quinn and his team have their work cut out for them.

Ohio State has some very dynamic players on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Braxton Miller is one of the nation’s finest. The 6’2” 215-pound junior and Ohio native is an explosive athlete and one of the best quarterbacks in the college game. Last season, Miller piled up over 2,000 yards passing and 15 touchdowns to 6 interceptions. Miller also rushed for over 1,200 yards on 227 carries, scoring 13 touchdowns along the way. Look for Miller to dash around the backfield to open up passing lanes.

Miller’s top targets this season are going to be wide receivers Philly Brown and Devin Smith. Senior running back Carlos Hyde is a powerful 6’0” 240-pound bowling ball of a back who will grind down opposing defenses with runs between the tackles. However, Hyde is suspended for this game, so look for senior back Jordan Hall to receive the bulk of the carries.
