      Event: Natraj featured at Ryles, Cambridge, MA
      Date: Wednesday, November 28, 2001
      Time: 8:30 PM - 12:30 AM

      The acclaimed jazz and world-music ensemble Natraj brings its
      "intoxicating Indian influences and entrancing African rhythms"
      [Bruce Gellerman, WBUR-FM] to Ryles Jazz Club, 212 Hampshire St., Inman
      Square, Cambridge, MA, on Wednesday, November 28. The music begins at
      8:30 PM. Tickets are $9. For tickets and information, please call
      (617) 876-9330.

      Natraj makes the unfamiliar sound familiar: The band seamlessly melds
      the classical music of India, traditional music from West Africa, and
      contemporary jazz to create its own unique and infectious style.
      "These 10 hands speak with one voice in a way that falls somewhere
      between Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Vishnu... a Natraj set is guaranteed to
      be a magical musical tour." -- Improper Bostonian

      Natraj features the raga-influenced soprano saxophone of Phil Scarff;
      emotive inflections of guest guitarist Randy Roos; the warm, nimble
      solidity of bassist Michael Rivard; the tabla and multipercussion
      mastery of Jerry Leake; and high-energy groove of drummer Bertram
      Lehmann.
