The American Football Association is proud to endorse AFLAC's Accident Indemnity
Policy that will now be made available to all AFA adult amateur football players
nationwide. AFLAC, currently the #1 supplemental insurance company in the world,
thoroughly reviewed the AFA and its By Laws recently. As a result, AFLAC committed
to working with the AFA to establish a premium of only $43 per month per player
for accident coverage.
Although the AFA was instrumental in developing an affordable Liability Insurance
program for semi-pro football teams and leagues several years ago, our national
association has been searching for some time now for a company who could assist
local teams in securing accident policies for their players, said Dave Burch
AFA Executive VP. Through the recent agreement with AFLAC, Accident Indemnity
Policies can be made available to each player independently. Upon completion
of an application, coverage can be put in effect within 3 to 4 days. Since a
good number of senior amateur (semi-pro) leagues are just getting their 2003
season underway, we felt it critical to announce this information to our teams
and leagues as soon as possible", Burch added.
As the AFA front office continues to work with AFLAC regarding on-line processing,
for now the process for signing up for this coverage will involve contacting
the insurance companys representative, Carissa Stevens, at 803-414-7308 or
by email at carissa_stevens@...
For the equivalent of $1.43 per day, personnel associated with AFA teams can't
beat the coverage, which includes:
Accident/Disability - The Accident Indemnity Plan is designed to help cover
the expenses associated with an accidental injury. It pays you directly, unless
you assign benefits, regardless of any other insurance you may have. Benefits
are regulated by state, but include: - Accident hospital confinement - Accidental
death and dismemberment - and many other benefits.
This is the first accident policy that we have been able to secure for players
on our level of the sport that doesnt require every player on the team to financially
participate, commented the AFA president Ron Real. AFLAC has agreed that
as long as our player applicants are considered adult amateurs and not professionals,
they may qualify for participation in this cost effective program. Teams on
our level often lose the ability to sign some good prospects simply because
they cannot afford them a vehicle for affordable health and accident insurance
coverage, said Real.
As the new policy is available to anyone involved in the AFA level of the
game, the AFLAC people may have been impressed with the number of people currently
active in semi-pro football across the country. The national association (AFA)
for adult amateur football monitors the weekly game action of more than 700
semi-pro teams playing in 62 different leagues nationwide. Those numbers correlate
to AFA teams in 47 states providing playing venues to over 75,000 players, coaches,
team and league executives, trainers, equipment managers, public relations people,
officials and even cheerleaders.
The AFA welcomes AFLAC as their new health and accident insurance provider and
encourages AFA teams to find out more about this affordable new program by contacting
that companys representative at 803-414-7308 or by email at carissa_stevens@...
