      Scientists at a U.S. Navy research lab are designing platinum and
      silicon films that
      are only two nanometers deep -- as thin as DNA -- and 10 nanometers wide. This
      advancement may lead to smaller, faster nanoelectronics to be used
      for missiles,
      aircraft navigation, surveillance and in battlefield management.
