  • My take on the Guardian piece is that it's a shallow, adolescent effort by the author to use a feeble understanding of Tolkien as a vehicle for flogging a political hobbyhorse. Its validity is undercut right from the start by an evident failure to understand what Tolkien meant by /myth/! This is nothing new, at all, nor does this sort of puerility look like it's losing steam...
