Nashville TENNESSEEAN, July 6:
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against an east Nashville man
accused of recruiting a teen-aged neighbor to kill his wife and mother-in-law
just before Christmas in 1967.
... The plan was for Milliken to kill the two women, make it look like they
were the victims of a robbery and sexual assault, and then to throw
incriminating evidence into the Cumberland River and leave the area ...
Detective Al Gray testified ... that Milliken said Stevens told him "to trash
up the trailer and take some pills and jewelry ... (but) not to break the
dishes and not to do anything to his Star Trek collection."
