I'm now writing to consult you for some research information on Tolkien and thank you for your time reading my mail.
I'm a Chinese fan of Tolkien and have done some academic research on Tolkien's The Lord of the Ring. During my postgraduate study, I chose to write my dissertation on that book for my MA in English Literature, and I got an A for that paper.
Years after that, now as a English teacher in college, I still feel great interest in doing more research on Tolkien or fantasy fiction. However, Tolkien is not regarded serious among academics in China and It's hard to find people who have the same interest.
In order to gain more academic attention for Tolkien in China as well as enrich myself with some real experience in a English-speaking country, I'm looking for the chance to do research in US as a visiting scholar. I wonder if you can offer me any information about Tolkien scholars who are not only engaged in Tolkien studies, but also teach courses in universities.
I'm now applying for the financial support from China Scholar Council (CSC), which, if approved, could allow me to study and research abroad for one year. It is required that every applicant should get the offer from the target university before application, so a formal visiting scholar program is critical for facilitating my study in US.
Your comments and consideration will be highly appreciated.
Looking forward to your reply and wish you all the best!.
