SF writer Suzette Haden Elgin invented a language for her "Native Tongue" trilogy. It was created in secret by the women in the novels and is meant to express women's view of the world. Elgin IS a linguist, so the language is not only based on accurate linguistic science, it can be studied and used for speaking and writing; a grammar and vocabulary manual is available.
