A survey and CFP from my friend Leslie Donovan. I've talked to her about this project and it sounds very interesting -- I'd encourage you to contact her if you teach Tolkien! And please forward to anyone else who might be interested as well.

      Thanks!

Feel free to circulate to anyone you know who teaches Tolkien.

Please note that the information should go to Leslie A. Donovan (email
below!), not back to me as a reply!

The MLA Publications Committee has given Leslie A. Donovan initial
approval to begin work on a volume for the MLA Approaches to Teaching
series titled Approaches to Teaching Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and
Other Works. Initial preparation for this volume entails gathering data
from a survey of college-level teachers, who teach Tolkien either in
stand-alone courses or as a portion of courses on other subjects. In
addition to providing important information necessary for the
introduction to the volume, the survey also provides an opportunity for
teachers to submit abstract proposals for essays to be considered for
publication in this volume. The survey will be advertised and
distributed in early September. If you would like to be notified when
the survey is available, please fill out the information below.
