      "Most remarkable of all is the sciapod, an obscure folkloric figure and the
      only one of his kind in England. This odd chap, supposed to have one
      enormous foot under which he lies shaded from the sun, has a hop-on part in
      Voyage of the Dawn Treader, one of CS Lewis's much-loved Narnian chronicles.
      He also features in old Latin texts and some versions of the medieval
      bestiary (a major source of carved bench figures) - but at Dennington he has
      two feet, not one. "
