      This is the entrance exam for 11-year-olds at King Edward's School in
      Birmingham in 1898. A few short years later, in 1900, J.R.R. Tolkien
      entered the school and presumably passed a similar exam, though he was a
      little younger,
      having been born in 1892. In 1899, aged seven, he had failed the entrance
      exam.

      After an interval at another school, he was granted a scholarship to
      re-enter King Edward's in 1903. One wonders what exam he had to pass then.
