"distort-o-matic" version of reality again. As in, there are long standing
rules, (more than 150 years old, folks) not changed rules, in play here, which were
intended precisely to protect the minority position, within the Senate, in
contrast to the House. And cloture, actually, has the opposite meaning than this
writer seems to think it has- it is to push pass debate, forcing a vote.
Senator Robert Byrd-ah, now there is a noble figure, one worthy of mythic
stature, who wields language with skill and gravitas. Check out his speeches
sometime, they are posted on his website.
