Galadriel, I'd guess! (Though established in the previous movie as well.)

I would assume that David is referring to the quick flash of Sauron's "Eye".

Tauriel and Legolas were established in the previous movie, however badly, so neither of them is the character I had in mind who doesn't belong in this movie.

      Mich,

Tauriel and Legolas do appear in the "teaser trailer". Here are their appearances (all without any utterances):

      1. The face of Tauriel appears after Bilbo says "One day, I'll remember", at 0:14 -- 0:16.

      2. At 0:23 -- 0:27, Legolas (to the left) and Tauriel (to the right) are seen from behind, directly after Bilbo says "those who did not". They are apparently looking at Lake-town, burned down.

      3. The face of Legolas (turning his head away from Bard) is seen at 0:54 -- 0:56.

      4. Legolas, seemingly doing a move in a fight, appears after Thorin says "I will have war!", at 1:17.

      5. At 1:34 -- 1:36, Tauriel (to the left) and Legolas (to the right) are seen sitting down behind some rocks, after Thorin says "Will you follow me?". Tauriel looks at Legolas, who's gazing into the distance.

I believe these were the only instances (I might have missed something in the background).

      /Morgan
