      Free Recycling Instructions

Please read this message before you post anything to the list.

The goal of this list is to recycle by linking people who have stuff they are willing to give away for free with people who can use the stuff. This reduces trash and helps save our world.

Minimum requirements: Free. Legal. Physical goods. No spam. No trading or selling. Use the subject prefixes "OFFER, TAKEN, WANTED, RECEIVED, LOST, FOUND, OWNER FOUND."

      OFFER/TAKEN

If you have something you no longer want:
      1) Send an "OFFER" email to the list. Make the subject meaningful and put details in the body of your message.
      2) Receive private replies off the list.
      3) Pick someone to receive the item.
      4) Arrange an exchange (keep safety in mind).
      5) If someone doesn't show up within a reasonable time frame, just tell your first person the exchange is off and go to your next choice.
      6) When the item has been taken, send a "TAKEN" email back to the list with a subject & details that reflect what was taken.

If you see something you want in an OFFER message:
      1) Send a private reply to the person who offered it.
      2) Wait for their response.
      3) If you get a response, great! Arrange an exchange.
      4) If not, be patient, sometimes it takes a while or the first few people decide they don't want the item.

      WANTED/RECEIVED

If you want something and you don't see any open OFFER emails:
      1) Send a "WANTED" email to the list. Make the subject meaningful and put details in the body of your message. Please refrain from describing why you need the item (or keep such descriptions down to 2 lines). Please also be realistic - extravagant or frequent wanted postings are less likely to be fulfilled and will mainly annoy others in your community.
      2) Receive private replies off the list.
      3) Pick someone who offers it to you.
      4) Arrange an exchange (keep safety in mind).
      5) If someone doesn't show up within a reasonable time frame, just tell your first person the exchange is off and go to your next choice.
      6) When the item has been received, send a "RECEIVED" email back to the list with a subject & details that reflect what was received.

If you see something you can give in response to a WANTED:
      1) Send a private reply to the person who WANTED the item.
      2) Wait for their response.
      3) If you get a response, great! Arrange an exchange.
      4) If not, oh well, wait for another WANTED or send an OFFER email to the list.

      LOST/FOUND/OWNER FOUND

      If you have LOST something:
      1) Send a LOST email to the list. Make the subject meaningful and put details in the body of your message.
      2) If found, send a FOUND email to the list.

      If you have FOUND something:
      1) Post a FOUND email to the list. Make the subject meaningful and put some (but not all) of the details in the body of your message.
      2) If the owner is found, send an OWNER FOUND email to the list.

Location, location, location: It helps to indicate your approximate location (major cross streets, or something similar) in posts.

Privacy: This is a public list. Please be cautious when including private information such as phone numbers in your post. Please do not include exact street addresses of private residences in any public post.
